I got my stang a few months ago and it didnt come with the owners manuel. Its definitley time for an oil change and I was wandering if anyone know what weight of oil I'm supposed to put in according to ford. Thanks

first look on the oil fill cap.. it will say the correct oil weight on there.. if its not there there should be a sticker somewhere in the engine compartment that will say it.. in general the 99-04's take 5w20 i believe.. at least.. my 2003 does

Alright thanks guys. :wavey I wont be adding any PA to it or anything major so would switching to "full synthetic" be worth it or would regular motor oil be fine?

eh.. i think ur fine either way really.. i use royal purple full synthetic id like to think that im investing into a longer life for the car.. but im not sure that it matters.. id suggest full synthetic anyway..
oh and i just remembered.. we had this discussion about why the oil is different between like the 01-04(5w20) and the 99-00(5w30) or something like that.. turns out it was changed because of emissions or something like that were improved by switching to 5w20.. i mean we all have the same engines(essentially) so i dont see 5w20 hurting your engine if it calls for 5w30.. the safe route would be just to listen to the sticker in ur engine bay or the filler cap.. and if you wanted my opinion id vote go full synthetic.. cant hurt might even be better for the car

my 2000 (late 1999) takes 5w30. the oil cap doesnt say anything. the emissions label under the hood says "use 5w30...)
yeah mine is the same setup.

look on your oilcap, if it's blank then your car calls for 5w30, look for this label to confirm that.

if your oilcap says 5w20, well then, there ya go...:hihi:

and i definitely recommend running full synthetic, your car will love you for it.

since your car is a 99, your oilcap will likely be blank, and require 5w30.
