Yesterday I started having some strange electrical issues. My Drivers side window will only go down and not up. When you press the up side of the switch my lights dim and radio go off. I'm sure it's some sort of short but not sure where to start. Could a short in the window motor cause this?

It sounds like the the window regulator is either binding or a bad window motor. The switch is working more than likely because your lights and such dim when you try to put the window up,that means an electrical load is being applied. The motor itself doesnt have the power to roll the window up very well,so there should be a coiled assist spring to help lighten the lifting load of the glass. Check those things,if you need parts I think LateModelRestoration has a master door rebuild kit for about $250(both doors) which includes regulators,motors,door actuator locks,and all hardware.

I took the panel off and it looks like the regulator is OK. I used my meter and can tell I'm getting power to the motor. At this point my guess is the motor. I went to late model resto and purchased the kit that comes with both motors. I will let you know if this fixes the issue. Hopefully it will not rain for the next few days.

A local parts store such as Autozone, which is where I bought a cheap motor for mine, worked just fine. I hardwired it to work though.

Yeah let me know how that kit works out,Im at the point where Im ready to break down and rebuild my doors to restore good function and get rid of the effin rattles!! My drivers door panel has been off for 3 months now...:banghead:
