hi, im new here but i need your help

i have a ford mustang 2001 v6, my battery went totally dead, so before to get a new one i tried to charge it, first thing, the horn was hanking as soon as i plugged it to the battery , so i charged it without the cable. but the battery was still dead, so i wen to get a new one, and it still didnt work. i used the jumping cable and it worked fine, and i didnt needed them when i tried a few time . the car was running, but after staying a week at home without running, the car start but after few minute, then all it does it clicking when i crank it but wont start anymore, but all the light are on etc, so same thing, i used the jumping cable and it stat right away, but after again, after few minute, it turn off and its obvious that it is the gas not going to the engine, cause the idling start going down, and the engine is cuffing before to stop. i check the auto shut off pump on the trunk but the buttom is down already. so i am out of idea. if you guys have any suggestion i m open to hear it. thank you

What does the battery gauge say, and if the gas is not getting to the engine , could be the fuel pump, or there is a clog somewhere. Some fuel injector cleaner could be a cheap fix. My bros fuel pump went out on his Camaro just out of no where, and the car would not stay on.

Check the fuel filter and pump. Sounds like a clogged filter or a pump starting to go bad. I would say maybe an injector but then you would just loose that cylinder and the car would run. You need to be careful trying to start it and let it die because a too lean air/fuel ratio could be damaging.

Good luck

Disconnecting the battery will trip the anti-theft (PATS) system on some model year Mustangs. Try unlocking/locking the driver's door with the key. Also try locking and unlocking the doors with the remote FOB. This will reset the PATS system.

Next double check that the battery cables are CLEAN and tight. Don't cut corners here. Today's cars will not run right without a strong battery and charging system.

Finally. Here's a crank with no start check list:

Hi I bought a low mileage 2013 mustang gt convertable a few months ago. It had the original battery in it so I bought a new one. Works fabulously. The other day I forgot to turn off her headlights. Needless to say she was dead the next morning. I put her on the trickle charger. Once charged I closed the hood. Next day I got nothing, no bells no, whistles dead. no clicking no gauges nada. Yet the battery is charged. I'm stumped.
