I was shooting the breeze today at my local auto zone and one of the employees said "you know what would be cool, is to swap a F-150 3.5 Ecoboost into your 2002 V6 3.8L". Please forgive me my knowledge of swapping motors is very green to say the least. His response was after I said I would like a Super Six or Coyote Swap, can someone educate this ole hillbilly(Me) on how to approach this. I plan on doing something extensive like this within the next 12-15 months and I know I will get some responses like get a V8 instead and do this and that but everyone has a V8, etc and I want this V6 of mine to be something different. Thanks in advance!

In either case, 3.5 ecoboost or high output 3.5 ecoboost, or the 5.0, you are going to need a complete drivetrain update, better brakes, better suspension, and appropriate wiring and computers. Not to mention a better fuel delivery system, exhaust, and some strutural modifications for whatever engine you decide to install.

It will be a good project and if you do follow tbrough with it, please start a thread to document your progress and attach photos along the way.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Yes Sir, Once I get it going I will take photos and videos. Thanks

I think you’ll need a new transmission. You’ll need some sort of aftermarket K member I think too.

Apples:Oranges probably but here’s a swap in a 2010

The way the guy at Auto Zone was telling it, that all I would need for the transmission was a adapter? In addition the rest would fall into place and drop in there and hook up. I'm getting he's full of ****.

I would suggest you get advice from places that aren’t AutoZone. Just my 2¢

As far as AutoZone, Pep Boys & all like places, if those people don`t see it on the computer screen in front of them they are lost. My son worked for AutoZone for minimum wage & to this day, he can`t tell a fan belt from a spark plug.
