so I have a 2006 mustang Gt and my driver window will not close all the way it stays about 2 inches open if I try to force it close with the switch it still don’t close on the cluster it says driver door ajar not sure if that’s what the problem is any help is appreciated

Aside from wiring problems, you may have two separate issues. Door ajar switch may be stuck from road debris and need to be replaced or cleaned. Window stuck partially down may be the regulator cable has crossed itself on the guide and no longer allows proper length. Both issues will require removal from door and inspection. I had to fix a few fleet Ford Expeditions where the window would freeze to door in winter and operators would try multiple repeat forward/reverse switch operation to break them loose resulting in cable crossing and destroying regulator assy.

Does your year mustang window go down when the door is open about an inch to clear the weather stripping, and back up if you close the door? If so the car thinks the door is never closed, and you need to replace the door jamb switch.

alright thanks so my window still opens all the way but just when I wanna close it it won’t close all the way , would it still be the cable crossing? Thanks a lot

Yes my year mustang does goes down when the door is open but it only drops like a quarter inch but my driver window is open like 2 inches and there’s no way to close it

Well I need a new regulator or can you fix it without getting A new part?

I would go to the auto parts store and get the door jamb switch. I would replace that first and see if it fixes my problem with the window. It should clear the "Door Ajar" message. If it doesn't fix the window you could try the relearn procedure that has been covered in a previous thread.
